Passionate About Inspiring Others

Music has always inspired me. It is a way to express deep emotion. I can sit at the piano and let the music take me away. Emotions flow through me and into the notes I am playing, creating and expressing feelings of gentle compassion one moment and then fierce frustration all in the same piece.

Sonnet Remund was born a performer. She started dancing at age 3, playing the piano at age 6 and was singing before she could talk. Sonnet trained and competed extensively in piano, vocal repertoire, classical ballet, lyrical and tap. She also danced in many other genres including jazz, hip hop, modern, ballroom and her personal favorite: “Rhythmik soccer”.

At age 14, Sonnet had become a very accomplished musician and started her own piano studio. She taught many students while continuing her own music and dance education. Sonnet especially enjoys arranging and composing her own choral and piano pieces and in 2000, Sonnet won 2nd place in the Utah Music Teachers Association Composition Competition.

During her high school years, Sonnet loved playing Varsity soccer, serving as the Captain of the Varsity Cheer/Stunt Squad and singing in many choirs including Concert Choir, Madrigals and All-State Choir. She was elected as choir president and served as a section leader for her choirs. She often accompanied choirs and soloists and played with the high school band. Sonnet was recognized as a Utah Ambassador for music in 2001 and was named Music Sterling Scholar at Wasatch High School in 2002.

After graduating, Sonnet competed in Miss Wasatch and was in the royalty twice, culminating in her participation in Miss Utah State Fair 2003. She continued studying music and dance at BYU-Idaho and BYU in Provo. She taught music, dance and volunteered as a choir pianist for various choirs while she lived in Idaho, Alabama and Japan. Sonnet has served as a pageant hostess and performance coach for Miss Madison, Miss Upper Valley and Miss Rexburg.

Sonnet volunteered as the Director of the Swiss Children’s Chorus for 4 years and built the choir to over 65 participants. In 2014, Sonnet established Rhythmik Studio, also known as Rhythmik Performing Arts Academy. She is the owner and creator of “Rhythmik Soccer” and she taught many types of music and dance, including: Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Rhythmik Soccer, Piano, Rhythm Drumline, Concert Choir & Show Choir. With her creative choreography, Rhythmik tappers won 1st place and High Gold awards at competitions. Sonnet directed community events and performances until closing Rhythmik Studio  in January 2021.

Sonnet loves teaching and sharing her enthusiasm for music and the performing arts with her community. When she is not teaching, you will find her hiking, paddle boarding and soaking up the sunshine. She loves to explore National Parks, visit historical sites and would love to backpack through Europe with her husband some day.
