Sonnet

     Sonnet was born a performer. She started dancing at age 3, playing the piano at age 6 and was singing before she could walk. Sonnet trained and competed extensively in piano, vocal repertoire, classical ballet, lyrical and tap. She also danced and performed in many other genres including jazz, hip hop, cheer, modern, ballroom, rhythmik soccer,  concert choir, show choir and madrigals.

    Sonnet became a very accomplished musician and started her own piano studio at age 14. She often accompanied choirs and soloists and played with the high school band. She enjoyed arranging and composing her own choral and piano pieces and in 2000 Sonnet won 2nd place in the Utah Music Teachers Association Composition Competition. 

    She sang in many choirs in high school including Concert Choir, Madrigals and All-State Choir. She was choir president and served as a section leader for her choirs. Sonnet was recognized as a Utah Ambassador for music in 2001 and was named Music Sterling Scholar at Wasatch High School in 2002.

    Sonnet competed in Miss Wasatch, was in the royalty twice and won the talent award, culminating in her participation in Miss Utah State Fair 2003. She continued studying music and dance at BYU-Idaho and BYU in Provo. She taught music, dance and volunteered as a choir pianist for various choirs while living in Idaho, Alabama and Japan. Sonnet has served as a pageant hostess and performance coach for Miss Madison, Miss Upper Valley and Miss Rexburg.

    Sonnet volunteered as the Director of the Swiss Children's Chorus for 4 years and built the choir to over 65 participants. In 2014, Sonnet established Rhythmik Studio, also known as Rhythmik Performing Arts Academy, where she taught many types of music and dance including: Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Rhythmik Soccer, Piano, Rhythm Drumline, Concert Choir & Show Choir. She is the owner and creator of "Rhythmik Soccer" and has fun teaching soccer skills with a hip hop twist. Sonnet closed Rhythmik Studio in January 2021 and is now focusing on Vocal Performance and Piano.

    She loves teaching and sharing her enthusiasm for music and the performing arts with her community. When she is not teaching, you will find her hiking, paddle boarding and soaking up the sunshine. She loves to explore National Parks, visit historical sites and would love to backpack through Europe with her husband some day.
